The UNE Portland Campus for the Health Sciences
For decades, UNE’s Portland Campus has been home to many of the University’s health professions programs including PA, PT, OT, pharmacy, nursing, dental medicine, and more. In 2025, UNE’s College of Osteopathic Medicine will move from the Biddeford Campus into the new Harold and Bibby Alfond Center for Health Sciences in Portland. By bringing our health professions programs together into one interprofessional learning community, we will establish UNE’s Portland Campus for the Health Sciences as the center of health care education in Northern New England.

Philosophy
The UNE M.S.O.T. program follows a philosophy of the profession as guided by AOTA’s Philosophical Base of Occupational Therapy document (AOTA, 2017) and we integrate this philosophy throughout our curriculum.
Our program is guided and informed by the AOTA Philosophy of Occupational Therapy Education document (2018). We believe that “the philosophy of occupational therapy education parallels the philosophy of occupational therapy yet remains distinctly concerned with beliefs about knowledge, learning, and teaching.”
NBCOT Exam Pass Rates
M.S. program graduates are eligible to take the certification examination administered by the National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy.

Accreditation
The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy at UNE was initially accredited in 1985 and has been continuously accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) since that time.
