Professor Ulloa holds both B.S.N and M.S.N degrees from University of Southern Maine’s School of Nursing. She prefers the Spanish term “Profesora,” or simply “Profe.” Before becoming a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Profe Ulloa worked as a bedside nurse in inpatient psychiatric settings, acute neurological rehabilitation, and hospice nursing. Nursing is Profe Ulloa’s second career; she holds a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature. Prior to becoming a nurse she taught a wide variety of courses in that field. Before joining the UNE faculty full-time in 2020, Profe Ulloa served as a clinical instructor at UNE, she also taught nursing courses as an adjunct nursing instructor and as a Graduate Teaching Fellow at the University of Southern Maine. In addition to talking about mental health, Profe Ulloa also enjoys working alongside students in the skills lab, and exploring best practices to bring mental health scenarios to life through case studies and simulation.
