Joanne E. Thompson, Ph.D.

Joanne is a Learning Specialist in the Student Academic Success Center on the Portland campus.  She provides students with effective strategies and tools for time and task management, organization, studying, test preparation and test-taking through both in-person and online meetings.  In addition, she serves as the Assistant Tutor Coordinator for undergraduate and graduate programs in Portland.

An art historian by training, Joanne brings 25 years of experience as a classroom educator and tutor to her position at UNE.  She has taught at schools throughout New England, sharing her passion for art history with students and helping them to build confidence in their academic abilities.  She has also worked with numerous students as a successful executive function coach and welcomes supporting a range of individual learning styles.
