Robert Ross is Scientific Director, Maine-Harvard Prevention Research Center (MHPRC), satellite of the Harvard Prevention Research Center on Nutrition and Physical Activity (HPRC), one of 33 CDC-funded PRCs. The HPRC is located at the Harvard School of Public Health, Department of Society, Human Development, and Health. The MHPRC is located at the University of New England, Center for Health Policy, Planning and Research and affiliated with the Center for Community and Public Health. 

Dr. Ross is Research Associate Professor at the University of New England, College of Graduate Studies. Formerly, he was (2004-2007) Research Assistant Professor, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Vermont (UVM), Burlington VT, where he served as P.I. on ÒWorksites overweight/obesity control/prevention trialÓ (R01 DP000108, 04/01/2005-9/29/2007); (2002-2004) Special Assistant for Development, Health and Human Development Programs, Education Development Center, Newton MA, where he developed domestic and global health promotion/disease prevention project and program grants; (1997-2002) Director, Office of Patient Oriented Research, Fletcher Allen Health Care, UVMÕs academic medical center, Burlington VT, where he mentored junior and senior investigators, leveraged intramural research awards into extramural sponsored research grants and served as Research Assistant Professor, Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, UVM College of Medicine, and as P.I. on ÒOutcomes of Injured Employee Health Status AssessmentÓ (R21 OH07339, 09/30/2000-05/29/2003); (1994-97) Research Associate, the Health Institute, Tufts-New England Medical Center, Boston MA, where he worked with Directors Sol Levine, PhD and Al Tarlov, MD to manage the RWJF Investigator Awards in Health Policy Research program and collaborated with Dr. Lerner, co-developer of the Work Limitations Questionnaire (WLQ); and (1991-94) Research Associate, DeanÕs Office, Harvard School of Public Health, where he researched and wrote a ten-case study of North American innovators in physician instruction with Harvey V. Fineberg, MD, PhD. 

Dr. Ross has held previous faculty appointments at the Tufts School of Medicine, UVM College of Medicine, and Wellesley College Department of Sociology.
