Thea Williams-Black received a Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis area in Literacy Education and cognates in Educational Administration and Gifted Education from The University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Education in Elementary Education with a certification in Gifted Education from William Carey University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education with concentrations in reading, math, and special education from Tougaloo College. Dr. Williams-Black is also the founder of GEMS (Growing Educational Minds for Success), where she conducts professional development workshops for in-service and pre-service teachers on various educational topics. She has published articles in Professional Educator, Journal of Urban Education, College Reading Association Yearbook, and Creative Education. Her main research interest is differentiating instruction in order to meet the needs of all learners.
