Maine AHEC
The Maine Area Health Education Center (AHEC) Network enhances the quality of and access to health care among underserved populations.
We provide rural, interprofessional, community-based clinical training experiences for health professions students, encourage Maine youth and mid-career professionals to pursue health careers, support practicing health professionals with continuing education, and promote population and public health approaches to addressing current and emerging health issues.
The Maine AHEC Network is based on Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) AHEC core topics:

- Connecting Communities and Supporting Health Professionals
- Virtual Learning and Telehealth
- Social Determinants of Health
- Cultural Competency
- Practice Transformation
- Current and emerging health issues
- Substance Use/Opioid Use Disorders
- Health Equity
- Recruitment and Retention
- Health Misinformation
