UNE and the Maine Transfer Guarantee Program

The Maine Transfer Guarantee is a transfer partnership between the Maine Community College System and the University of New England. The program ensures that eligible students have guaranteed admission to UNE and are able to transfer seamlessly.

Requirements

To qualify for the Maine Transfer Guarantee, you must have:

  • Completed associate degree from a Maine community college
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

Eligible Programs

These programs are eligible for the Maine Transfer Guarantee program:

  • English
  • History
  • Political Science
  • Psychology
  • Sociology

Please note the Maine Transfer Guarantee does not apply to all programs. Transfer students are eligible to enroll in most bachelor’s degree programs at UNE but must meet additional requirements. Transfer students eligible for the Maine Transfer Guarantee program should submit the following:

  • The UNE Application
  • Official transcripts from each college or university you have attended

Benefits of the Maine Transfer Guarantee

  • No application fee. When completing your UNE application, enter the fee waiver code Maine Transfer Guarantee.
  • Guaranteed admission with a 3.0 GPA.
  • Guaranteed block transfer of all associate degree credits you have earned.
  • Automatic third-year standing when you enroll at UNE.
  • Renewable merit scholarships for up to six semesters.

Financial Aid

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the first and most important step in applying for financial aid and should be completed as soon as possible. UNE’s Institution Code is 002050.

Once you complete the FAFSA and have been admitted to UNE, Student Financial Services will prepare an individual aid offer for you. For more information, visit une.edu/applyingforaid.

Merit Scholarships

Students who transfer to UNE via the Maine Transfer Guarantee will be offered a merit scholarship upon admission. Merit scholarships for transfer students range from $8,000 to $23,000 per year and are renewable for up to six semesters (three academic years) of undergraduate study at UNE as long as you maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above and full-time enrollment.
