Academic information sessions provide a unique experience to learn more about your program of interest. From dynamic online events to experiential tours on campus, each session provides a program overview, highlights experiential learning opportunities, and explores the resources and facilities UNE has to offer.

Communications and Media Arts
Biddeford Campus
Join this upcoming info session to learn how our Communications and Media Arts program cultivates professional and personal communications skills in a supportive, student-focused environment. Michael Cripps, Ph.D., director of the School of Arts and Humanities, will share an overview of the academic major and its three concentrations: Reporting/Public Relations, Sports Media, and Digital Video Production. You’ll learn about exciting internship opportunities and what you can expect from classroom experiences, from Intro to Communication to Studio Production. The session includes a tour of our new, state-of-the-art Nor'easter Production Studio.

Computer Science and Data Analytics
Biddeford Campus and Online
UNE’s newly-established School of Computer Science and Data Analytics will give you the career-ready skills to thrive in today’s data-driven economy. In both the in-person and virtual info sessions, Director Sylvain Jaume, Ph.D., will give an overview of the four programs within the school: Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Statistics. You’ll hear about our hands-on education and active research opportunities, with focus on the intersection of these majors with a variety of fields, such as the health sciences and marine biology, to further interdisciplinary learning and broaden post-graduation opportunities.
Dental Hygiene
Portland Campus
Our Dental Hygiene information session provides an overview of the coursework and academic pathways for Dental Hygiene majors. Program faculty will highlight examples of hands-on learning experiences, practice techniques, and how we prepare students to thrive in modern, team-based care. Your session will include a tour of our Dental Hygiene facilities, including our dental simulation lab.

Exercise and Sport Performance
Biddeford Campus
Our Department of Exercise and Sport Performance (ESP) offers programs in Athletic Training and Applied Exercise Science. This information session explores the differences between the two programs, as well as the coursework, research, internships, and interprofessional education at the center of both majors. You’ll meet faculty from the ESP programs and tour the Harold Alfond Forum, where you’ll experience what courses are like in our classrooms, labs, and athletics facilities.

Health Promotion Studies
Biddeford Campus
UNE’s Department of Health Promotion Studies includes undergraduate majors in Nutrition, Occupational Studies, Public Health, and Social Work. In this info session, you’ll learn about our emphasis on the importance of whole-person wellness and how students support each other through classes and combined experiential learning activities. You’ll also hear how each of these programs prepares you for a foundation for advanced graduate-level study at UNE and beyond.

Marine and Environmental Programs
Biddeford Campus
Whether you’re interested in Marine Sciences or Environmental Studies, our in-person and virtual information sessions provide an exciting introduction to the hands-on education you can expect in the field, on boats, in state-of-the-art laboratories, and at exciting internships. You’ll meet Charles Tilburg, Ph.D., director of the School of Marine and Environmental Programs, for a presentation and overview of the Girard Marine Science Center. When weather permits, sessions on campus may include a boat tour of the Saco River to explore our coastline and the environments you’ll study.

Nursing
Portland Campus
Join our School of Nursing info session to discover more about our Nursing program and explore the coursework, simulation experiences, clinical, and interprofessional education opportunities that UNE offers. You’ll meet the coordinator of the Simulation and Skills Lab for a program presentation, tour of our state-of-the-art Interprofessional Simulation and Innovation Center, and see the classrooms and labs where hands-on learning takes place.

Are you an aspiring doctor? Join our Pre-Medicine info session to learn explore pathways for a successful career in medicine. Learn what makes UNE Maine's leading health professions university, including state-of-the-art facilities; collaborative, interprofessional education; and a close-knit, inspired community. Faculty and staff will give an overview of undergraduate curriculum, share options for navigating your path to medical school, and provide a hands-on introduction to UNE's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
