Annual Events
The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine regularly hosts a number of events to celebrate and educate our students, alumni, and faculty. These events not only convey our enduring traditions, but highlight educational and mentoring opportunities, feature scholarly achievements, build everlasting communities, and emphasize the pride of our members for their college of osteopathic medicine.
OsteoBlast! and Orientation
UNE COM invites prospective students to campus in the spring for OsteoBlast! to obtain a better understanding of the COM academic program and take-in the beautiful campus. We welcome back the incoming class at the end of June for Orientation in order to prepare for the start of the academic year.
Networking Events
The Office of Recruitment, Student and Alumni Services organizes networking events and opportunities for you during your first- and second-year while you begin to figure out what specialties you may want to pursue in residency.
Speed Networking connects you with alumni and local physicians of various specialties to ask practicing physicians questions face-to-face.
The COM Mentoring Program connects you with alumni mentors to act as an additional resource throughout your medical education.

White Coat Ceremony
The White Coat Ceremony celebrates your transition to a medical student. The significance of the event is in your symbolic coating by a D.O. physician. The white coats are the exact ones you will use when you begin your rotations and contain the D.O. seal for UNE COM. Families and friends witness the event as you take the first step into fulfilling your dream of becoming an osteopathic physician.
Homecoming
The Office of Recruitment, Student and Alumni Services orchestrates COM-specific social events at UNE’s annual Homecoming for alumni and friends to reunite, network, and connect with current medical students. Events take place throughout the weekend.
Match Day
As a fourth-year medical student, you participate in the National Resident Match Program, and the Military Match. This is when you learn where you will be completing your medical residencies, and your specialties, after graduation. Our Match Day event allows you to celebrate this momentous occasion with your family, friends, and the greater COM community.
Senior Week and Graduation
As a candidate for the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (D.O.), you attend an intimate graduation ceremony are hooded on stage in front of your family and friends. The University also conducts a combined commencement ceremony for all the colleges that typically takes place before at a separate location.
